Christian Strohal is an advisor specialising on foreign policy and Human Rights. He chairs the Advisory Board of the Austrian Centre for Peace. After graduating as a lawyer and receiving degrees in London, Vienna and Geneva, Christian Strohal pursued a highly successful diplomatic career with postings in Rabat and, as ambassador, Luxembourg. He was posted several times to Geneva, culminating with his appointment as ambassador and permanent representative of Austria to the United Nations in Geneva. A substantial segment of Christian’s career was devoted to the OSCE, where he served as director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODHIR), and later as Austrian ambassador to the OSCE and special envoy for the Austrian chairmanship of the OSCE.

Christian Strohal is a visiting fellow at Princeton University, and a fellow of the Austrian Institut für Europa und Sicherheitspolitik. He has published extensively on international relations and Human Rights, and has received several awards for his work on Human Rights.
