Thierry Bechet is a trainer and a foreign policy advisor. A lawyer by training, he has been a career diplomat for all his previous professional life. He served as European Union ambassador to the OSCE and to Norway, and was Chief of Protocol of the European Diplomatic Service. He was head of mission to the Palestinian Authority and spent four years representing the European Commission to the Geneva-based UN organisations. He served in three different cabinets of EU Commissioners, dealing with foreign relations, energy, institutional reform, and development cooperation and humanitarian assistance. At EU headquarters, Thierry dealt with the Middle-East and the Eastern Partnership.
Thierry Bechet has been a teacher, a lecturer and a trainer all his professional life. He was a visiting professor at the College of Europe for many years. He has delivered trainings on diplomatic skills and practice for the College of Europe. He is responsible for the training pillar of Diplomats without Borders and is a course director for the Centre for Political and Security Studies (UK). He was one of the main resource persons of the HR department of the European Diplomatic Service, delivering training and mentoring to EU officials at all levels.
